ATMs and Me!
I was originally introduced to ATMs in the late 1980s, tasked with designing a process that would allow local HFC Bank branch staff to order an ATM card to go with their current account and cheque guarantee card.
I worked with the Halifax, where I was part of the team supporting 3000 ATMs, and designing services for customers using those ATMs. I helped connect the Halifax Network to Visa, and later to design the upgrade for the issue of 12.5 million chip cards.
I also worked with one of the founder Link members, connecting the UK ATM network to Sibs in Portugal and 4b in Spain, and then helping integrate the UK ATM networks so that any card may be used anywhere.
